Freewell Brandon Li Variable ND/CPL Basic Kit is a fast and portable magnetic filter system designed for filmmakers and photographers who need flexible exposure control without slowing down their workflow. Co-designed with filmmaker Brandon Li, the kit combines a locking 1 to 5-stop variable ND and circular polarizer with a stackable ND32 filter for extended light reduction in bright shooting conditions

Fast Magnetic Workflow

The system uses a magnetic locking mechanism that allows filters to snap into place and securely lock with a twist. This design makes it easy to switch between filter strengths quickly without threading or unthreading filters during shooting.


1 to 10 Stops of Light Reduction
The included 1 to 5-stop VND/CPL filter provides variable exposure control along with adjustable polarization for reducing reflections and glare. The included ND32 filter adds five stops of light reduction and can be stacked with the VND/CPL to achieve a total range of 6 to 10 stops while maintaining CPL functionality.


Slim Modular Design
The layered filter design keeps the system slim and lightweight for handheld and run-and-gun shooting. The compact construction allows the filters to fit easily into a pocket or small camera bag while remaining fast to deploy in the field.


Minimal Color Shift
The filters are engineered to maintain consistent color performance across different ND strengths. The system is designed to minimize color shift while preserving image quality in both standard and high light reduction settings.


Wide-Angle Compatibility
The slim design helps reduce vignetting and unwanted X-pattern artifacts commonly associated with variable ND filters on wide-angle lenses. The separate ND32 filter can also be used independently for additional flexibility when shooting ultra-wide focal lengths.


Magnetic Base Ring System
The included magnetic base ring attaches directly to lenses with the corresponding filter thread and acts as the foundation for the filter system. Additional magnetic base rings can be used separately to adapt the kit across multiple lenses.


Magnetic Lens Cap with Built-In Reference Cards
The included magnetic lens cap locks securely onto the filter system for protection during transport. It also features built-in black, white, and gray reference cards for quick white balance and exposure checks on location.


Storage and Portability
The included clamshell filter case helps protect the filters during travel while keeping the kit compact and easy to carry between shoots.
